Ernie Ball Music Man Short Scale StingRay Bass Now Shipping
After previewing it at the Winter NAMM Show earlier this year, Ernie Ball Music Man is now shipping the Short-Scale StingRay bass. It features the company’s flagship bass model in a 30-inch scale that they say “offers a big thumpy, round sound in a convenient smaller package.”
Part of that thump comes from a new custom humbucker made with higher output neodymium magnets that were designed specifically for the short-scale. Its electronics include a three-way rotary switch that toggles the pickup’s coils between parallel, true single-coil, and series modes.
Another new feature is the arm contour on its ash body, which was refined to be more comfortable at different positions. Similar to its big brother, the Short-Scale StingRay bass has a modern classic bridge, 22 stainless steel frets, and new lightweight Music Man tuning machines. It comes in Ultramarine Blue and Raspberry Pearl.
