Warwick Reveals 2020 Limited Edition Models
Each year, Warwick presents a special limited edition bass featuring their top specs. This year is a limited version of the Thumb NT, which will come in both Masterbuilt and Teambuilt versions.
“For the Masterbuilt LTD 2020 model, the Warwick Custom Shop in Markneukirchen/Germany has chosen a 34” long scale Thumb NT, which can be ordered as a 4 or 5 string, right- or left-handed instrument,” the company writes. “The eye-catcher is the body in a combination of the matching headstock made of highly figured Mahogany Burl, with a natural satin finish. The wenge neck, with mahogany veneer stripes, is connected to the body in a “hidden neck-through” construction, the wild mahogany fretboard is equipped with 26 bronze frets and abalone dot inlays.”
Warwick also fits the Masterbuilt version with Graphtech Ratio tuners, gold hardware, their Just a Nut III Brass nut, a two-piece Warwick bridge, and Warwick S-Security locks. For electronics, the bass has active MEC J/J pickups with brushed metal covers matched to an active Warwick 2-band EQ with a rechargeable lithium battery. The Warwick Thumb NT LTD 2020 Masterbuilt is limited to 25 pieces worldwide.
The Teambuilt version carries many of the same aspects but is crafted with bolt-on construction among other features. “The body is made of mahogany, with a 1-inch mahogany burl top with a natural satin finish. The laminated Ovangkol neck is bolt-on; it carries a Wild Mahogany fretboard and is equipped with 24 frets,” the company explains. “Other features include Warwick machine heads, gold hardware, Just a Nut III Tedur nut, active MEC J/J pickups, active Warwick 2-way electronics, two-piece Warwick bridge, and Warwick S-Security Locks.” The Teambuilt version is limited to 100 pieces worldwide.
The Warwick Thumb NT LTD 2020 Masterbuilt and Thumb LTD 2020 BO Teambuilt are available with prices starting at $6,590 and $3,790, respectively.
