Tad Kinchla and Blues Traveler Dig In On New Album, “Traveler’s Blues”

Blues Traveler: Traveler’s BluesBlues Traveler has released a new album called Traveler’s Blues, which is a collection of covers from the American Blues Songbook and other classics. The band rounded up a top-notch collection of guest artists to complete their vision including Christone “Kingfish” Ingram, Warren Haynes, Keb’ Mo’, Rita Wilson, and John Scofield.

“Back in the day, we were all into blues,” says guitarist Chan Kinchla. “We even started as a high school blues band. That’s why our name is Blues Traveler! So, it was fun to come full circle and really get back to blues more than we’d ever planned. It took a lifetime for us to play this style well. There’s no way we could’ve pulled off this album when we were younger. After thirty years, we finally made the record we aspired to make as kids.”

They tear through older songs like “Trouble In Mind” and “Need Your Love So Bad” to newer tracks like Gnarls Barkley’s “Crazy”. Bassist Tad Kinchla holds it all together from the low end, providing deep grooves and funky lines.
