Bass of the Week: Atelier Kraken Thunder

Atelier Kraken has such a cool style, and they overlay that on to more traditional designs. Their Thunder model is inspired by the Les Paul Junior Tribute DC Bass. The bass, which actually features a full 34-inch scale, comes in a black lacquer finish with engraved aluminum plates for that extra “wow” factor.
It’s built with neck-through construction including a neck of maple, wenge, and cedar. Its body wings are cedar with an ash top. Kraken fits it with a Macassar ebony fingerboard with 21 stainless steel frets.
For electronics, they went with a pair of Lollar Thunderbird pickups. The Thunder’s controls include one volume knob with a push-pull knob for series or parallel operation, one tone knob, and a three-position pickup selector.
