Bireli Lagrene on Fretless Bass, Jaco-Style

Bireli Lagrene, known for his guitar playing, can apparently lay down a mean Jaco Pastorius-style groove on bass too.

Bireli obviously picked up a few pointers while touring with Jaco in the 80s.

Or, as Jaco would say, “I know where I stole every note!”

  3. i grew up on saxophone, picked up guitar after college, now I play bass. the bass players great, but I hate jazz that goes nowhere…. like the sax player in his own little world playing something that is nowhere close to the anything the bass line is doing. other than the bad sax, loved this peice
