Dave LaRue Joins New Supergroup Featuring Mike Portnoy

Dave LaRueDixie Dregs bassist Dave LaRue is now part of a new unnamed supergroup along with ex-Dream Theater drummer Mike Portnoy, guitarist Steve Morse, Neal Morse, and vocalist Casey McPherson. The group announced that they have just entered the studio to begin work on their debut release.

“I think we are almost done with the writing/arranging process of the first song,” Portnoy said. “It’s something that Casey planted the seed of and we just ran with it to many cool places.”

When not playing in the Dixie Dregs, LaRue regularly plays with the Steve Morse Band, as well as artists like Joe Satriani, John Petrucci, Vinnie Moore and Stretch. This will also be Portnoy’s first new group since leaving Dream Theater last year.

i must say that i am a little disappointed by the fact that Mike Portnoy is already back in the studio after siting that his departure from D/T was purely from burn out in the writing / recording/playing process
    i’m just sayin’
