The expansive guide offers up 25 chapters, covering more than 100 musical styles. More than 400 bass lines are presented, which can be followed on each of the two CDs which are included.

In the new edition, 50 new grooves have been added, along with a DVD featuring videos of the proper way to play nearly 100 examples from the book, from three different camera angles.

Each bass line is presented in standard notation and tab, and include a detailed bibliography and discography for each section.

Boomer goes beyond the bass lines themselves with the historical information for each style.
