Spector Unveils Helium Series Basses

Spector introduced their Helium Series of NS and Forte basses at Winter NAMM this year. The series uses a unique combination of reclaimed woods to create basses that weigh in at seven pounds and twelve ounces.

Spector Helium Bass

“The top of this neck thru body instruments wings are carved from quarter sawn sycamore obtained from salvaged logs of trees which have blown down in our local forests near Woodstock, [New York],” the company writes. “The back of the body wings is reclaimed redwood that was originally harvested in California between 75 and 100 years ago and used for the construction of water tanks which are sited on top of office buildings in NYC.”

The water used in the tanks permeates the wood, which in turn washes out the sugar in its cells so it dries more completely.

Besides its wood combination, the Helium series is distinguished from Spector’s other USA-built neck-thru’s is a Spector locking bridge made of aluminum with brass saddles.

The Helium construction option is available on Spector’s USA NS Neck-Thru Series in Grayburst or the USA Forte Series in trans black stain matte finish. Each bass is handcrafted in Woodstock, New York and will have a Certificate of Authenticity signed by Stuart Spector. Prices for Spector’s USA NS Neck-Thru and Forte Series basses start at $4,199.
