Ibanez Adds New Color Finishes to SR Premium Series Basses
Ibanez stepped up its SR series in 2011 with the SR Premium, which took the company’s flagship model and gave it upgraded features. The series has traditionally kept in the vein of boutique basses with only natural finishes, but Ibanez has announced that the SR Premium 1400E and 1405E will be getting new color options of Deep Ocean Flat and Dark Red Stained Flat finishes.
The new 4- and 5-string versions will retain the features of the model including a mahogany body with a figured maple top, an Atlas-5 five-piece bubinga neck, and a rosewood fretboard with abalone oval inlays. Both basses are fitted with a pair of Nordstrand Big Singles matched with an EQB-IIISC 3-band EQ with a bypass and mid-frequency switches.
The Ibanez SR Premium’s new finishes will be shipping soon with prices of $1,140 for the 1400E and $1,249 for the 1405E.
