Fodera Introduces Monarch 4 and Emperor 5 Standard Classic Basses

Fodera went old school at NAMM this year by introducing the Standard Classics line, including the Monarch 4 and Emperor 5 Standard Classics. The new models retain the qualities of Fodera’s Standard series models while taking on a classic aesthetic.

Fodera Emperor 5 Standard Classic Burst

“All our tone woods and everything are from the same Brooklyn shop [and are] the same tone woods we use on our custom shop instruments, made by the same exact people,” Fodera’s Jordan Cortese explains. “It’s a through and through Fodera, but it’s more geared towards those classic basses.”

The Monarch 4 and Emperor 5 Standard Classic share many features with the main difference being the body shape and number of strings. They bothy come with either an ash body with a maple fingerboard or an alder body with a rosewood fingerboard. Fodera fits the basses with a pair of Fodera/Duncan proprietary dual coil pickups matched to a Fodera/Pope 3-band internal preamp. Other common features include a quartersawn hard rock maple neck, a compound radius fingerboard, 24 frets, and a high-mass bell-brass bridge.

Where Fodera’s Standard series models are typically limited in options, both models can be ordered with a choice of paint colors (Vintage Sunburst, Red, Black or White) and pickguards (3-ply Tortoiseshell, Black or White). The Fodera Monarch 4 and Emperor 5 Standard Classics are available for order now for $4,850 and $5,850, respectively.
