Spector Introduces NS-2 CT-B Carved Top Bass
Stuart Spector was showing off his latest creation at NAMM this year with the Spector NS-2 CT-B, a carved top take on the company’s flagship NS-2 model. Handbuilt in Spector’s U.S. workshop, the bass features a chambered alder body with a redwood top that’s carved on both the inside and outside surfaces. The top also fits their Helium series and is made from wood reclaimed from New York City water tanks.
The three-piece maple neck is their “Shorty” style with a scale length measuring at 30 3/8 inches. It’s reinforced with graphite rods for additional strength and fitted with a pau ferro fingerboard.
The magnetic pickup is a special EMG 35CS that’s mounted to the bass’s alder back, while the ebony bridge is fitted with a Fishman piezo system. Electronics include an Aguilar OBP-3 preamp with a 3-band EQ and a mid-frequency toggle between 400Hz and 800Hz. The bass is rounded out with a rosewood tailpiece, ebony headstock veneer, and Dunlop Dual Design strap buttons.
The Spector NS-2 CT-B is available for order now with a list price of $4,299.
