Fasino & Falanga: I Heard It Through The Grapevine
Lucio Enrico Fasino shared his newest project with us – a collaboration with vocalist Deborah Falanga.
The duo put together this unique version of the Norman Whitfield and Barrett Strong tune, “I Heard It Through The Grapevine,” made famous in separate recordings by Gladys Knight and Marvin Gaye.
Things really start cooking around the halfway point, with a hint of “Respect” thrown in for good measure.

Marvin Gaye did a “cover” of I heard it through the grapevine.
This one sound a lot more like the original recording Gladys Knight.
This cover sound amazing!
I’m pretty sure Marvin Gaye recorded his first, but the Gladys Knight version was released first. I wouldn’t consider either of those two versions “covers”.
I think this is closer to the Gladys Knight version, which Jamerson also played on, you can hear an isolated version on the standing in the shadows, which Will Lee covered.
Fan f’n tastic – good stuff!
Is he using flatwounds?
