Teye Guitars Unveils Super Coyote Bass Prototypes

After relaunching the brand earlier this year, Teye Guitars has unveiled the prototypes for a new bass model called the Super Coyote Bass. The instrument, which feature the company’s signature acid-etched aluminum artwork, was designed with AC/DC bassist Cliff Williams.

“When Cliff Williams received his first Teye-bass, a superb Master series ‘La Mora’, his immediate reaction was to order two more basses for him to be used on the road,” the company explains on their website. “Cliff had a few very specific guidelines on how he wanted those basses to be. Cliff and Teye then started an exciting conversation on how to incorporate those ideas into the general design. The resulting bass is a great very user-friendly instrument and is now being offered as our new Super Coyote® bass. We have Cliff’s two prototypes ready.”

The Super Coyote Bass’s body is select mahogany with a maple cap and fore-arm contour, while the maple neck is topped with a bound ebony fingerboard. Teye’s diamond themed inlays adorn the fingerboard with a centerpiece inlay at the 12th fret. The aluminum A-series styled artwork is fitted on the front and back of the body as well as the headstock.

A pair of custom wound Nordstrand pickups are matched to Teye’s new electronics layout that includes dual volume controls, a master tone control, and a master MOJO control. MOJO is a circuit the company describes as an expression tool. “On basses, it rolls the tone from soft and ‘jazz’ to punchy and ‘sting’ and adds tremendous bottom end in the middle of the sweep,” they write.

Other features include lightweight Hipshot tuners, Teye’s proprietary SuperSustain bridge and tailpiece, and a hand-rubbed oil “Shipwreck” finish.

The Teye Super Coyote Bass is available as a four-string with a MAP of $4,150. A five-string version is expected later this year.
