Tech 21 Unveils the Geddy Lee Signature SansAmp YYZ Pedal

Tech 21 Geddy Lee for Signature SansAmp YYZ PedalBack in 2017, one of the biggest stories from the NAMM Show was the release of the Tech 21 Geddy Lee Signature SansAmp GED-2112 preamp. The company is turning heads again this year with the introduction of the Geddy Lee Signature SansAmp YYZ Pedal, which distills the rackmount GED-2112 into a pedal format to offer Lee’s core sound.

The Rush bassist famously stopped using on-stage amplifiers years ago. As such, the new all-analog SansAmp YYZ Pedal is designed for both recording and live applications. “For live performances, the SansAmp YYZ can drive a power amp and speakers, augment an existing amplifier set-up, or run directly into the mixer of a PA system,” Tech 21 writes. “A Mix control blends the ratio of high-end studio clean and dirty bass tube amp tones. The Tight button adds definition to notes in cleaner settings and makes distorted tones snappier.”

Other features on the pedal include a Drive control, a 3-band EQ, and a master volume control. It runs on either a 9V alkaline battery (not included) or optional DC power supply.

The Tech 21 Geddy Lee Signature SansAmp YYZ Pedal will debut at the Winter NAMM Show and will carry a street price of $199 when it becomes available.
