Chick Corea Trio with John Patitucci: Tumba

Here’s a killer performance of “Tumba” by Chick Corea with Vinnie Colaiuta and John Patitucci from the Blue Note in Tokyo in 1992. The trio plays over several Latin grooves, even kicking into swing for a while.

Patitucci deftly maneuvers through the groove changes and delivers a monster solo starting at the 7:46 mark.

Is the drummer still alive? That’s a bit of a smoking addiction he had 27 years ago, I hope he quit long ago.
