Johnnie Gilmore: “To Make You Feel My Love” Solo Bass Arrangement
The Solo Bass Night series was rekindled in 2019 with a pair of dates in California. There was a wealth of talent at each night, including Johnnie Gilmore, who performed this solo bass version of “To Make You Feel My Love.”
He calls the song “the Billy Joel/Garth Brooks/Adele song no one knows was actually written by Bob Dylan.”
The beautiful arrangement includes the higher tenor bass tuning to make the instrument sing. Gilmore’s phrasing and delicate touch really bring out the emotion of the song.
