Jason Raso Releases “Soloing on Electric Bass: A Chord Tone Approach”
Jason Raso has followed up on 2018’s Improvising on Electric Bass with a new instructional book called Soloing on Electric Bass: A Chord Tone Approach. The 52-page lays out a method for improving your solos while improving your chord spelling and fingerboard knowledge.
“The primary focus of this second book is to help you develop a more melodic approach to solo bass playing,” the book’s description explains. “The author suggests avoiding root notes, concentrating instead on chord tones of a 3rd, 5th, and 7th as fertile ground to begin revising your approach to more creative soloing. Following a series of standard notation exercises exploring intervals and goal notes in all keys, Jason presents a dozen original solo etudes in notation and tablature.” The etudes vary in style, time signature, and form to really work out your new skills.
Soloing on Electric Bass: A Chord Tone Approach is available now in Kindle and paperback versions via Amazon and the author’s website.
