Charles Berthoud: Eruption
With the tragic news of the passing of Eddie Van Halen, Charles Berthoud decided to record a tribute. He reached out to his audience for suggestions on what to tackle, and “Eruption” made the list.
Charles pulled off this tall task with a fantastic bass version of the iconic tune. At the end of the video, the bassist shared some inspiring words.

EVH not even close. sound, speed, clarity, long ways from EVH. Multiple present day performers far better than this presentation.
WTF!! That was phenomenal! I never thought that Eddie’s iconic guitar ? solo could ever be achieved on an electric bass guitar.
I too, play Bass.. However for me to replicate Eruption on Bass as you did, would take me a bit to get down, I think- I’d have to really practice to achieve anything clise to ehat you have done here.
