Happy 12th Birthday, No Treble

No Treble's 12th birthday

Today marks 12 years since No Treble officially launched. Since that day, over 16.5 million people have visited the magazine, over 33 million times.

This past year was a massively challenging one. No Treble had its share, but we did what we set out to do in 2009, and that is to embrace and support the worldwide bass playing community. Despite the struggles, we have a lot to reflect on and some things to celebrate.

In reaction to the global shutdown, and to further promote and celebrate our readers, we launched the No Treble Bass Community. This was a labor of love for us, and we were able to connect with countless bassists around the world as a result. We hope it has made a difference.

We took a stand on the issue of racial injustice and did our own deep reflection on what we were doing, and vowed to do better.

We had a great year announcing new contibutors. This includes the addition of much loved Vuyani Wakaba to our board of directors, Joshua Sailor bringing the fire with bass videos, Rich Brown and his incredible new “Brown’stone” lesson series, solo bass guru Josh Cohen and his “Tapping Technique” lessons, long-time producer Travis Huisman and his “Recording Bass” series, and bassist/composer Olivier Babaz’s inspiring “Bass & Creativity” lessons.

These welcome additions brought some terrific new voices to our existing line-up, including our long-time Managing Editor Kevin Johnson, columnist Ryan Madora, Groove Host Mitch Joel, educator Ariane Cap, and transcriptionist (and interviewer) Tim Fletcher.

These people are like family to me, and I owe them so much for their hard work.

No Treble was visited by nearly 2 million people in 2020. Our Facebook Group now has over 18,000 members, and our Youtube channel now has over 34,000 subscribers.

There’s so much more to do, and we look to the future with the hope that we can all collectively move forward and past the challenges of the past 12+ months.

Today, we’re going to celebrate. As always, we thank you for being here. We’d be nothing without you!

Happy birthday, No Treble!
