We recently lost jazz great Ramsey Lewis. Ramsey has always been one of my favorite players. In this clip, the trio performs an excellent rendition of the Seals & Crofts classic, “Summer Breeze,” with Cleveland Eaton holding down the bottom.

Ozzy Osbourne has followed up 2020’s “Ordinary Man” with another solo album, entitled “Patient Number 9.” On the low end of the frequency range are three monstrous bassists: Robert Trujillo, Duff McKagan, and Chris Chaney.

This week we’re checking out a TULIP model from Wood Guerilla Basses. Dubbed “HoneyBlackCaramel,” the bass is actually a babyTULIP, which takes the single-cut bass and adds a headless tuning system.

From “Live from the Dome part IV,” here’s The Main Squeeze performing the Jimi Hendrix tune, “Little Wing.” Rob Walker is rocking the double bass on this one to kick this one off before switching to bass guitar (and then taking a sweet solo).

Vocalist and trumpeter Jennifer Hartswick has released her third solo album, “Something In The Water,” which she co-wrote with Nick Cassarino. Hartswick also reconnected with her friend and collaborator Christian McBride for the project.
