Karina Rykman has been covering the East Coast on her latest winter tour. On December 3rd, she performed in Burlington, Vermont, and welcomed Phish bassist Mike Gordon onto the stage for an extended version of “City Kids.”

Oakland’s finest soul band, Tower of Power, has announced a winter tour for 2023 to celebrate the band’s 55th anniversary. The band is still led by Emilio Castillo, who founded the group in 1968 with his brother Jack Castillo, Stephen “Doc” Kupka, and bassist Francis “Rocco” Prestia.

Comedian Fred Armisen has a deep history with music. The SNL and Portlandia star was a drummer before an actor. In 2018 he released a special called “Standup for Drummers,” and in 2023, he’ll be turning his attention to the low end.

After unveiling a custom shop signature bass earlier this year, Charvel has introduced a production line bass for Anthrax and Helmet bassist Frank Bello.

Christine McVie’s “Songbird” is one of my all-time favorite songs. Karl Clews pays tribute to McVie, who passed away on November 30th, with this beautiful all-bass arrangement.

NOFX has followed up last year’s “Single Album” with the appropriately titled “Double Album.” The playful title also carries in spirit into the music’s subject matter, with Fat Mike saying that it isn’t a serious album.
