Jack Bruce: “Politician” Tutorial

Jack Bruce had a unique sense for bass lines and ended up creating some of the most iconic riffs in rock and roll history. The musical genius demonstrated many of his most famous bass lines in a 1998 DVD called The Cream of Cream, and now more fans can enjoy it.

The late bassist’s YouTube channel released this archival clip of him playing and singing “Politician” on his own, allowing fans to see how he did it. He first wrote the song with Pete Brown for Cream’s third album, Wheels of Fire, in 1968 and it still holds up today.

In his time with No Treble, Kevin has met hundreds of amazing bassists and interviewed icons like Jack Casady, Victor Wooten, Les Claypool, Marcus Miller, and more. He's a gigging bassist performing jazz in Northern Virginia and bluegrass with The Plate Scrapers up and down the East Coast. Kevin appreciates all genres of music, from R&B to metal and everything in between. Connect with Kevin on Facebook and check his performance schedule on his website.
