Allison, Cardenas, and Nash Announce New Album, “Tell The Birds I Said Hello”

With three albums under the belts already, the trio of Ben Allison, Steve Cardenas, and Ted Nash have teamed up once again. They’ve just announced their next project, Tell The Birds I Said Hello: The Music of Herbie Nichols will be released on February 2, 2024 in multiple formats.
The album celebrates the pioneering jazz pianist by re-imagining his music into their bass/guitar/sax format. It will feature six previously unheard tunes as well as two re-workings of songs that were first recorded by The Herbie Nichols Project.
To preview the record, Allison and company have released the song “Enrapture,” which the bassist says “represents the overall vibe of this album, with its joyous groove and lots of space for group improvisation.”
Allison delivers a melodic and rhythmic bass line to bring the composition to life.
Tell The Birds I Said Hello will be out February 2nd on CD, 24-Bit FLAC, and all major streaming platforms.
