Bass of the Week: Spector USA Custom NS-2 NYC Graffiti Collection Limited Edition Bass
This week we’re checking out one of the new collaborations between Spector Basses and Chuck Levin’s Washington Music Center. The two companies teamed up for a line of one-of-a-kind NS-2 models featuring special graffiti artwork by airbrush artist Dan Lawrence that celebrates New York City.
“In his first ever collaboration with Spector, Dan created twelve remarkable works of art that not only take us right to the streets and subways of NYC, but pay tribute to the rich history and origin story of Spector Bass. Each bass, adorned with old-school subway token inlays, matching painted pickups, and tagged names and places integral to the Spector narrative, make powerful, bold statements—much like the city that served as their muse.”
This one of the bunch has an orange theme with awesome tag artwork all over it. It’s built with a 3-piece maple neck, maple body wings, and an ebony fretboard with an NYC inlay at the 12th fret. Hardware includes a lightweight aluminum bridge with Gotoh tuners while the electronics portion has an EMG PX/SJX pickup set and a Spector HAZ 9-volt preamp.
Doug Wimbish blessed this bass with some original Sugar Hill bass lines. Check out his blessing and then watch the Chuck Levin’s video on the whole series:

I absolutely love the NYC inlay. It’s beautiful and so very unique.
Not usually my thing, and I’ve never even been to NTC, but these basses look AMAZING!
Looks like the side of a NYC Subway car in the 70’s or 80’s… ~Beautiful folk art!
