Fodera Introduces the Ryan Martinie “Black Beauty” Standard Bass

Fodera Ryan Martinie "Black Beauty" Standard Bass

Mudvayne bassist Ryan Martinie’s signature line of Fodera instruments has gotten a new member as the company has announced the “Black Beauty” Standard. Based on his custom Black Beauty, the new Standard edition bass carries many of the same features while cutting down on options to offer it at a lower price point.

“Since the beginning the process of developing Ryan’s Signature Custom models, we discussed what the standard version of his model would look like,” Fodera explains. “The specifications were carefully selected to provide the same silhouette and core functionality of his Custom Signature models at a lower price point to make it accessible to more people who want the Ryan Martinie sound. It was vital that the Standard still satisfies any of Ryan’s requirements for playing on tour or in the studio. The result is a killer combination of tonal options, playability and range.”

The 34-inch scale five-string bass is built with a korina body topped with flame maple all in a transparent black finish. Its ebony fretboard has 26 frets with a pearloid Mudvayne rhombus at the 12th fret. Similar to his custom bass, the body has some unique features: a shortened Monarch body style with a deeper cutaway, a redesigned heel cut, a scooped fingerboard end, and a custom double-slanted pickup placement.
