Belew, Levin, Vai, and Carey Announce Full “Beat” Tour Dates
We recently shared that the nearly unbelievable lineup of Adrian Belew, Tony Levin, Steve Vai, and Danny Carey would be teaming up to perform the music of King Crimson’s ’80s lineup. Previously, only one date had been shared, but now they’ve revealed a massive North American tour from September into November.
The quartet will begin on September 12th in San Jose, California, at the San Jose Civic Center. They’ll perform five nights across California before heading South to Florida and north into Canada. Then, they’ll drop back down into the States to cover the Midwest and finally wrap up in Las Vegas, Nevada, on November 8th.
The Beat Tour will see the band reinterpreting King Crimson’s three albums from the ’80s, including Discipline, Beat, and Three of a Perfect Pair. Belew and Levin were members of the band during that era and performed on all of those records.
“The 1981 through 1984 King Crimson created a music all its own,” says Belew. “Timeless. Beautiful. Complex. Fierce. For the fans who lived through it then, and the ones who never got to witness it, our aim is to bring it to life again. A monumental task but we’re going for it! There are not enough exclamation points to express my excitement!”
Levin shared his enthusiasm, saying, “This is going to be quite a tour. Revisiting some of my favorite music is a treat in itself, but in the company of this stellar lineup, I expect to have my musical butt kicked! And it’s also great that we’re not just playing a few shows, we’re hitting it hard. So, Road Dogs are coming to your area soon.”
