Ibanez Launches VISIONS IV1SR Bass With Exotic Woods and Hexa Mid System

Ibanez recently revealed their new gear for the fall, including the EHB600 Series. Part of that drop unveiled Ibanez VISIONS, a new, top-of-the-line custom shop range that has kicked off with two guitars and one bass: the IV1SR.

The striking new instrument uses their SR model as the vehicle to push the art of guitar building. It’s crafted by Ibanez’s most elite luthiers, who were driven by their imagination.

“Meticulously fashioned from the finest woods available—like Bastogne Walnut, Pale Moon Ebony, and Ash—this SR is the culmination of the combined efforts of the expert hands that helped shape it,” Ibanez writes. “The utmost care was utilized in this process, which can be observed in even the finest details. Just like the chemistry between musicians, the resonance between woods matters, and these choices were made with mindful intent.”

The Bastogne Walnut serves as the top of the ash body, while the Pale Moon Ebony is utilized for the fingerboard atop the five-piece maple and purpleheart neck. It has 24 medium frets that are given the Custom Shop fret edge treatment. Ibanez set Luminlay dots into the side of the neck, but left the face of the fretboard clean to show off the exotic wood’s grain.

The Ibanez IV1SR is fitted with a pair of Nordstrand Big Single pickups under wood covers as well as an Ibanez Sonitech preamp. The active/passive circuit has bass, treble, and mid controls with a 3-way mid-frequency switch and Hexa Mid system.

“The Hexa Mid system offers players the flexibility to choose from two mid-range banks, each containing three distinct frequency points, for a total of six,” the company states. “Its exceptional versatility and user-friendly interface help players achieve their ideal bass sound.”

Other features include Gotoh tuners, an MR5S bridge, and a hardshell case. The Ibanex IV1SR will be shipping in early 2026 with a price point of $7,999.

Once again I ask No Treble, can you not splurge and an expand the word count by a mere three or four words and add “Left-handed model available” or “Left-handed model not available”?

Sorry. I missed the inclusion in the specs section about it being available as a right-handed model only. While that is always disappointing news, at least we lefty bassists don’t have to dig to get the disappointing news.
