IK Multimedia Launches TONEX Plug: 40,000 AI Tone Models in a Pocket-Sized Amp

IK Multimedia has announced the TONEX Plug, a pocket-sized headphone amp for bass and guitar. The aptly named device plugs directly into your output jack and is powered by the company’s AI Machine Modeling to offer over 40,000 free amps and pedal rigs.
“With built-in Bluetooth and the included TONEX Control app (iOS/Android), users can practice or play anywhere, stream audio, and browse and edit presets with the app, then load them wirelessly to TONEX Plug,” the company states.
Aside from the free tone models, the TONEX Plug will have access to Premium and Signature collections. It stores 30 user presets across 10 color-coded banks. IK Multimedia points out that it can also function as a USB-C audio interface for recording. Other features include a built-in tuner, an onboard EQ, and a rechargeable battery with up to six hours of playing time.
The IK Multimedia TONEX Plug will ship this month for $149.99.
