The Who at Tanglewood 1970: The Original Lineup with Entwistle’s Thunder and Moon’s Mayhem

A full set video of The Who’s 1970 performance at Tanglewood has surfaced, giving us a fresh look at the band in its original lineup and in absolutely ferocious form. Even though the show is more than five decades old, the energy feels immediate and unfiltered.

This is peak era Who. Roger Daltrey commanding the stage. Pete Townshend in full windmill mode. Keith Moon pushing everything to the edge. And John Entwistle standing cool and composed while unleashing some of the most authoritative bass tone of the era.

Entwistle’s sound is huge and aggressive!  He is not just holding down the low end, driving transitions, and locking with Moon in a way that gave The Who their signature sound. It is rare to get a full set document of the original lineup in this kind of raw setting with band at full volume and intensity. Crank it up and enjoy hearing The Who exactly as they were meant to be heard.
