Bassist Maurizio Rolli shared this video with us, featuring a 2009 performance of his Rolli’s Tones big band. The group, which includes drummer Peter Erskine and saxophonist Bob Mintzer performed their unique arrangement of The Police’s “Every Breath You Take”, including a sweet solo by Maurizio. Tomorrow is Jaco’s birthday, so we’re thinking a lot about him around here. And so here’s an audio track of Richard Bona playing one of Jaco’s compositions, “Continuum.” (He throws in some extra Jaco stuff too). So much bass greatness all in one spot.

We love it when bassists work together, and this is video is a reason why. Swiss bassist Sebastiano Mereu collaborated with Jasmine from Hong Kong (AKA deppwaswho) and drummer Fabio from Switzerland (AKA PingaloBIll) to make this sweet version of the Jackson 5’s “I Want You Back”. Such a good groove.

Here’s a recent video by bassist Simon Fitzpatrick, this time showing off his incredible solo bass arranging and playing skills with an all-bass cover of Radiohead’s “Karma Police”. Simon is playing his 6-string GB Spitfire bass. Awesomeness.
