The Motet: “Canned Heat” Cover
Facebook friend Michael Coderre turned me onto Colorado based band The Motet, sending in this awesome cover of Jamiroquai’s “Canned Heat”. As if the band’s rock solid groove isn’t enough, bassist Garrett Sayers takes a sweet solo at the 8-minute mark. As Michael put it, “The man is boss. Straight up.” We agree.
Marcelo Feldman: Jackson 5’s “I’ll Be There” Solo Bass Cover
Bassist Marcelo Feldman shows incredible musicianship and technique in this all-bass version of the Jackson 5’s “I’ll Be There”. Clearly inspired by the Marcus Miller version, this is the way music should be.
Oliver Leonidas Tsakonas: “Cause We’ve Ended as Lovers” Cover
Bassist Oliver Leonidas Tsakonas shared his cover of Jeff Beck’s “Cause We’ve Ended as Lovers”. And he sent it with a warning: “Contains a bass solo.” …which is why we’re featuring it. Oliver plays both bass and guitar on the track… making it even more impressive. Have a video to share? We’d love to check it out. Email us at...

BassGirl: Spain
It has been a while since we featured a video of the bassist known as BassGirl. This young bassist just keeps getting better and better with each video too. Here’s a recent video of BassGirl performing Chick Corea’s “Spain”. Also cool: her dad is the drummer. It is so nice to see a young, up-and-coming bassist appreciating great music from...
Rob Smith: Solo Bass Arrangement of The Beatles’ “In My Life”
“In My Life” is one of the most touching Beatles songs, and Rob Smith brings that passion and soul to his solo bass arrangement. Rob really nails the bridge with some awesome two-handed tapping.
Howie Waldman: “The Addams Family” Theme All-Bass Cover
Happy Halloween, bass style. Here’s bassist Howie Waldman performing the theme to The Addams Family the best way possible: with his bass. Love the hair.
MonoNeon: Sonic the Hedgehog “Green Hill Zone” Theme
Video game music has always held a special place in my heart. Looking back I realize that a lot of the themes from the games of my youth had really sweet bass lines, and I think MonoNeon realized that, too. Check out his play-along of the theme to the Green Hill Zone from the Sega Genesis classic Sonic the Hedgehog,...
Aaron Gibson: “Lost in Forever” All Bass P.O.D. Cover
Aaron Gibson always blows me away with each new video he shares. Here’s Aaron performing his solo bass version of P.O.D.’s “Lost in Forever”. Also, the t-shirt looks pretty cool. But that’s not why we’re sharing. Really.
Christian Harger: “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” Solo Bass Arrangement
Christian Harger sent us this video recently of his all-bass take on “Somewhere Over the Rainbow”, saying “if you think it’s up to snuff”, that he’d love some more views. We love it. Very up to snuff!

As we’ve said before, we love love love all-bass arrangements of cover tunes, and we love that our instrument of choice is that versatile (and the versatility of those who play it). This time around, we have two by Adam Stevens (yeah, he’s that good), and two versions of The...
Simon Fitzpatrick: “No Woman, No Cry” Solo Bass Performance
Simon Fitzpatrick is a favorite around here, thanks in large part to his awesome solo bass arrangements (plus, he’s a super cool guy). Here’s Simon performing Bob Marley’s classic “No Woman, No Cry” on a 6-string GB spitfire with Boomerang 3 looper pedal. Sweet.
