Franklin Peredo sent us his original composition, “Girasol Negro,” which features some gorgeous soundscapes created with incredible right hand technique. I had to watch this one a few times to catch everything he does.

Costantino Riemma does it all in this video featuring the bassist playing both bass and drums… at the same time. And wow, does he do it well. In this clip, Costantino covers a lot of musical ground with “Smoke On The Water,” “Billie Jean,” “Pretty Woman,” and “Enter Sandman”. Check out Costantino’s Facebook page for more.

So much can be said with just a bass guitar. Here’s a great example of that with David Piggott’s “Unbroken,” a song he wrote for his wife. Piggott uses some crafty measures to create a beautiful flow of notes, with some strings backing him up for good measure.

Jesús Rico Pérez is one of our favorite solo bassists around here. So it is always thrilling to see a new video from him. In this video, Jesus performs his composition, “Peace Prayer,” for piccolo fretless bass. Enjoy.

Our friend Jayme Lewis shared this video on Facebook, with just two words: “So sick.” The bassist is Craig Akin. The tune is “The Streetbeater” by Quincy Jones – but you may know it better as the theme to Sanford and Son. So sick is right. The only thing better would be if it could be a little longer.

Nathan Navarro is back with another great solo bass arrangement. This time he explores the classical world with Mozart’s “Lacrimosa”. Navarro brings lots emotion to the performance, adding drama with dynamics changes and beautiful phrasing. A digital download of the song as well as tablature and sheet music are available on his website.

We’ve all had that moment when an unknowing fan asks what’s wrong with our “guitar.” Alberto Rigoni’s latest single, “Bass Guy”, and its video tackle that situation. The song will be on the bassist’s upcoming album Bassorama, due summer 2016.

I’ve somehow avoided listening to Miley Cyrus’s hit tune, “Wrecking Ball”… until now. It is all thanks to bassist Lior Ozeri, who sent me his interpretation of this tune where he drops the original instrumentation and turns it into a bass arrangement behind Cyrus’s vocals. I dig this, and I don’t mind admitting it.
