Daniel Brunn shared his new six-string Titan bass built by Robin Manton of Manton Customs and we were instantly intrigued. As modern as it looks, the instrument is inspired in part by instruments from the 17th century.

Stradi is known for their beautiful blend of modern and classical elements in their designs, but this week we’re taking a look at a more traditional electric bass called the Reformer - our bass of the week.

Thundercat’s bass is as unique as his playing, so this week we’re taking a look at his signature model from Ibanez. The massive six-string hollow body is made in the company’s Japanese custom shop with curly maple for the back and sides and quilted maple for its top.

Today we’re featuring a gorgeous bass sent in by its owner, Apok Folken. His Wreck Guitars Hope 6 is the second instrument he got from the builder.

This week we’re looking at a short-scale ROOM 4 bass recently completed by Kristall Basses. Handmade in Germany, the instrument is built entirely from maple and Pau Ferro.

Ever since restarting his business a few years ago, it’s been a blast to see Bud LeCompte’s new builds. One of his latest basses is a special JSS-4 he’s keeping for himself.

Steve Smith of m7 Bassworks shared his latest build called the Type [M]. The model, which won a Talkbass build-off, is the luthier’s take on a modern bass.

Today we’re featuring a bass submitted by Stijn Deldaele, who is a professional bassist that took up building over the past few years. His craft has grown, leading him to build under the name “monkey bassness”.
