This week we’re checking out a cool design by Vleck Basses called the Butterfly. Built in the Czech Republic, the curvy singlecut bass is crafted with a five-piece ash and wenge neck with an American black walnut body and ash tone block. Its 24-fret fingerboard is made from rosewood.

This week we’re checking out an absolutely stunning fretless seven-string bass by luthier Emiliano Bernal. The elegant instrument’s body was crafted with a spruce top with Amazonian rosewood for the back and sides.

America Paz recently debuted a new look for her Dingwall NG3 to create what she calls the “Sailor Bass.” The stock instrument was painted by artist “El Miedo,” who specializes in applying fluorescent colors to anime styles.

Today is Halloween, so we’ve got a frightful electric upright bass for you. Artist, designer, and luthier Steve Lampasona shared his “Bones” Bass, which he crafted with a walnut body, oak neck and bridge, and ebony fingerboard.

This week, we’re taking a look at another killer instrument by Tangente Instruments. His latest build is a version of his Weaves model made as a signature bass for Frode Berg.

For his newest instrument, luthier Jeremy Kirsch wanted to dream up something that was big on fun as well as versatility. His vision became a reality with the Sirena Basses Pistolera.

I recently had a gig in Pennsylvania at the Bedford Fall Foliage Festival. Between sets, I was pleasantly surprised to find Shaffer Guitars displaying an acoustic/electric bass guitar among the vendors.

This week, we’re checking out the Nicolo, a new fretless model from Ulrich Bass Design with a lot of character. The bass is described as having a unique tone thanks to a “naturally resonating acoustic approach.”

This week we’re checking out a TULIP model from Wood Guerilla Basses. Dubbed “HoneyBlackCaramel,” the bass is actually a babyTULIP, which takes the single-cut bass and adds a headless tuning system.

Inspiration can strike from anywhere if you’re open to it. That’s just what happened to Lenny Robert of Daddy Mojo Electrics, and it led to the creation of this cool version of his BeeKay bass model.

This week we’re featuring the Breed Forty Three by Kononykheen Guitars, which builds limited batches of all their models before discontinuing them. The Breed Forty Three mixes design elements from several classic models, from its body shape to pickup configuration.
