It’s been a few years since we featured a bass from AC Guitars in this column, but luthier Alan Cringean has been continuing to produce incredible instruments from his shop in Moffat, Scotland. Case in point: this stunning Krell 5/34.

We’ve shared a couple of Atticus Lazenby’s incredible creations in the past, and they just keep getting better. The luthier shared his latest build, the CUTEbass 432, which he says is for himself.

Rob van den Broek shared his latest creation with us and it’s an absolute beast. The Brooks Double Duane Bird, aka the DDB, is a double neck Thunderbird-style bass that features a traditional 34-inch scale four-string neck below a 30.5-inch scale twelve-string neck.

Jens Ritter just wrapped up exhibiting at Guitar Summit 2024 in Mannheim, Germany, where he showed off some spectacular instruments. One bass that caught our eye is an R8-Singlecut Concept model dubbed the “Sound of the Deep.”

It’s always hard to part ways with a bass that you know may never come back. Bassist Andy Oliver went through that ordeal, but he found a creative solution to get the magic back. His Drake Bass Custom Fretless 4-String is our Bass of the Week.

Poland’s Mensinger Guitars has a bass model called the Joker B, and this hollowbody version of it in three-tone sunburst really caught my attention. The five-string bass is built with a medium 32-inch scale length and bolt-on construction.

This week we’re checking out a real stunner. Although it has plenty of amazing features, probably the first thing you’ll notice about this Löwenherz Basses Majesty Clarke 5-string is its custom handmade brass lionhead sustainer bridge.

This week we’re checking out the Amitra Woodworm Michael League Signature bass by Bacci Guitars. The Italian-made instrument is crafted with an alder body that’s been affected by wood-boring insects.

This week, we’re checking out another fabulous instrument from the collection of Bass Upfront founder David Sutkin. This custom scroll bass from Mana Basso is a four-string with an extra-long 35-inch scale.

EBG Instruments is already preparing for the Guitar Summit and the NAMM Show by assembling an arsenal of instruments. That includes this four-string EBG-4 Jigsaw in a Cerulean Blue Metallic finish, which is their signature body shape.

Gerald Veasley’s Bass BootCamp just wrapped up a weekend of incredible bass clinics, masterclasses, and performances. No Treble’s Corey and Isaac were on the scene to cover the show and the Philadelphia Bass Gear Expo, where Corey fell in love with the Ibanez SRD905F fretless bass.
