Arran McSporran shared this video on Facebook recently, and I have been enjoying it ever since. This clip by Nicolas Meier features some stellar fretless work by McSporran on “Shooting Stars.”

Our good friend Rob Waxman shared this video on Facebook yesterday, and I was mesmerized by the performance. Barend Tromp pays tribute to Jeff Beck in this clip, playing “Cause We’ve Ended As Lovers” on 6-string fretless bass.

I am thoroughly enjoying Tedeschi Trucks Band’s “I Am The Moon” records, so it was a thrill to see the band drop this video. Filmed at Red Rocks on July 29, 2022, here’s the band joined by Steve Berlin of Los Lobos, performing the title track.

I love everything about Playing For Change. Their videos, and their mission, are inspiring. Here’s their latest, with Manu Chao performing “Tantas Tierras” with Wailers drummer Carlton “Santa” Davis, bassist Gambeat, and other musicians from nine countries.

Cory Wong’s live videos are always entertaining. Here’s a clip of the band performing “Synchronicity” with Ripe’s Robbie Wulfsohn on vocals. This one has a twist, though, with Sonny T taking on the guitar duties while Wong gets down on bass.

Leonid & Friends is known for their great covers, including many by Chicago. But they take on the work of other artists too. They just dropped their latest, with Leonid Vorobyev’s band performing Stevie Wonder’s “Did I Hear You Say You Love Me.”

I was sad to learn of David Crosby’s passing. CSNY was a big part of the soundtrack of my youth, and I spent the evening watching their videos. Here’s a great clip of the group performing Crosby’s “Almost Cut My Hair.”

Renaud Garcia-Fons never fails to amaze me. “Happy Alone” is a solo double bass piece that will be on his upcoming record “Cinematic Double Bass,” and it lives up to the album’s title.

It’s always a good day when The Main Squeeze drops another video. This time around, the band is joined by a number of guests for a performance of Pink Floyd’s “Comfortably Numb.”

YYNOT’s Bubba Bash was held on January 7th, on the third anniversary of Neil Peart’s passing, and they had an impressive lineup. Here’s a clip from the show, with drummer Mike Portnoy joining Tim Starace and the band on “Overture/The Temples Of Syrinx.”

Today, we celebrate the birth of Martin Luther King, Jr. For today’s video, I chose Marvin Gaye’s version of “Abraham, Martin and John.” Gaye was backed by the Funk Brothers, including the always excellent work of James Jamerson.

Our good friend Magnus Sjöquist shared this video on Facebook of the Swedish Steely Dan tribute band Josie & the Cousins performing “Aja.” Way to go, Magnus!
