Toto’s “Africa” made a huge resurgence in the past year, but none of the new versions are quite the same without Mike Porcaro. Check out this live version of the song that features the bassist’s signature playing as well as a groove-oriented solo.

I recently got turned onto the music of Daniel Caesar. This live version of “Get You” from the BBC features an addictive bass line by Saya Gray, who also has a monstrous tone. If you’re into slick R&B bass lines, you’re going to love this.

Here’s an awesome clip of bassist Richie Goods with his band Nuclear Fusion performing “Cosmic Beauty.” The group builds a gorgeous groove and sonic texture that they eventually build into a frenzy, starting with an amazing solo by Goods.

Our friends at Bass The World have shared another incredible video, this time featuring the work of Vahagn Stepanyan. In this clip, Vahagn takes walking bass to a whole new level in this performance of “The Sounds.”

During the 2006 Montreux Jazz Festival, Tower of Power took the stage and brought the funk (and were joined by Carlos Santana and Chester Thompson). Here’s a clip of the band performing “Squib Cakes.” Rocco Prestia killed it!

Here’s a killer performance of “Tumba” by Chick Corea with Vinnie Colaiuta and John Patitucci from the Blue Note in Tokyo in 1992. The trio plays over several Latin grooves, even kicking into swing for a while.

Usually when we share a video by Karl Clews, it is one of his excellent all-bass covers. Karl is changing things up with this collaboration with Maciek Zaworonek on harmonica. The duo takes on Steve Wonder’s “Isn’t She Lovely.”

In 2018, Sting and Shaggy teamed up in an unlikely pairing to release “44/876.” Last week, the duo visited NPR Music for a Tiny Desk Concert. It is cool to hear Sting’s trusty ’57 Fender Precision in this setting.

We’ve been on the lookout for a new video from Zander Zon, and he just came through with a new, incredible all-bass arrangement. In this clip, Zander takes on the Shawn Mendes & Camilla Cabello tune, “Señorita.”
