GroundUP Music shared this incredible new video by Monsieur MÂLÂ the other day, and I'm hooked. Anchored by bassist Swaeli Mbappé, the instrumentation and sound of this band are so unique.

I was thrilled to discover that Pino Palladino and Blake Mills (along with Abe Rounds and Sam Gendel) recorded a Tiny Desk (Home) Concert. Check out the group performing three tunes from “Notes With Attachments”.

Here’s a great new video featuring Cory Wong’s new collaboration with Dave Koz, from the upcoming album, “The Golden Hour”. Yohannes Tona lays down the low end on the title track. I love how this really gets grooving around the 2:10 mark!

Consider the Source has created a video for their NPR Tiny Desk submission, and it is fantastic. I love the acoustic version of this band, the instrumentation, and the tune.

I stumbled upon a newly remastered version of Weather Report’s live performance in Belgrade on October 31, 1980. Jaco Pastorius is on fretted bass on this one, with the band tearing through “Birdland”, with Jaco’s “Liberty City” in the mix.

Our good friend Tony Senatore shared his latest video with us, with his band, Rook. I really dig the sound on this one, with Tony rocking his Dan Armstrong London bass on the tune, “The Path”.

The Omnific is a killer prog-metal band consisting of two bassists – Matthew Fackrell and Toby Peterson-Stewart – with drummer Jerome Lematua. Their latest song, “Wax & Wane”, distills their melodic yet aggressive sound.

Our friend Pete O’Neill sent us this video with his solo fretless bass arrangement of “Hold Me Now” by the Thompson Twins. This arrangement was part of his “The 80s” EP, released last year.
