One of my favorite musical discoveries of 2020 has been Black Pumas. Here’s a new video in support of their upcoming “Deluxe Edition” of their debut album. This clip features a live, in-studio version of “Confines”, with Brendan Bond on bass.

In today’s video, Carlitos Del Puerto plays along with the bass line to Irakere's “Tata Cimarron.” The playing itself is incredible, but there’s another connection: Irakere’s bass player is his father, Carlos Del Puerto, a pioneer of Cuban bass playing.

Gregory Porter’s newest album, “All Rise”, drops on August 28th. In advance of the release, he’s just released a new video for one of the tracks. “Concorde” features bassist Jahmal Nichols grooving and having fun.

Kate Gillespie sent us her latest video, and we dig the vibe. Inspired by the CAKES tune, “Eucalyptus”, Kate decided to create her own musical interpretation with double bass and vocals.

Nashville-based player Amos Heller is back with another solo bass creation. Entitled “Fortune,” the hard-rocking piece came from a popular gear pairing for heavy music. Heller gets a monstrous tone and puts it to use across the span of the fretboard.
