NPR’s latest Tiny Desk Concert is a special one. Linda May Han Oh performed music from her 2023 album, “The Glass Hours,” as well as new material.

Our friend Nenad Vasilic sent us his latest video, and this is worth a watch. “Straight to the Point” is a terrific solo bass tune he composed and arranged.

Nathan East and his son Noah performed at Campus JAX in March, and cameras were rolling. Here they are performing Steve Wonder’s “Sir Duke.”

Louis Johnson was something special. In this special clip, we hear him thumping and plucking on the the Tranzit tune “Dance” from 1983. His trusty Musicman Sabre also makes an appearance.

Hadrien Feraud dropped another spectacular video from his “Bass of Doom Sessions” series. Armed with Jaco Pastorius’s legendary bass, here’s Hadrien and the band performing Joni Mitchell’s “Black Crow.”

Marcus Miller and Omar Hakim took the stage at Berklee’s Spring Bass Bash. Here’s the duo jamming on the tune, “Jean Pierre.”

Zander Zon tuned his bass to match a cello’s, put a capo on the 12th fret, and then performed a stunning rendition of Bach’s “Prelude from Cello Suite No. 1 in G Major.”

The Jaco Pastorius Archive delivered big with this recording of Herbie Hancock’s “Watermelon Man,” performed by Tommy Strand & The Upper Hand. Jaco was only 19 at the time.

No Treble readers never fail to impress us. Here’s a video Milan Srdanovic shared with us of a masterful solo bass arrangement of “Niška Banja.”

In this video, Ed Friedland (on double bass) covers the Oscar Pettiford tune “Tricrotism.” The tune also features Kevin Ravellette on sax and my friend Kenji Lancaster on drums.

You have to hand it to DHL. They asked Cory Wong to “write a song that demonstrates the idea of ‘supply chain’.” Cory delivered an excellent, funky tune with the help of bassist Yohannes Tona, and some killer string and horn sections.

Christian Kussmann sent us the latest video from his project, Almost Nailed It. Here’s the tune, “J.B. will never die.”
