RIP: Geoff Lloyd

Geoff Lloyd, who co-founded and played bass for the popular Canadian rock group, the Matthew Good Band, passed away this weekend. The cause of death has not been made public, but a Facebook post states that “Geoff had been fighting his inner demons for a number of years, and they finally got the better of him.”
Lloyd was the bassist for the Vancouver, BC based band from 1995 to 1999, and played on their albums Last of the Ghetto Astronauts, and Underdogs. More recently, he formed his own band, the Slipjacks.
Matthew Good posted a message about Geoff on his web site: “I really don’t know what to say right now. Having just found out that Geoff has passed I’m still in a state of shock. Geoff was one of the founding members of the Matthew Good Band, and, as far as I’m concerned, it was never quite the same without him…”
A show to benefit Lloyd’s wife and family will take place in Vancouver at the Astoria on February 7. For more details on this, visit the Facebook event page.
