Dean Announces New Edge Basses with EMG Pickups
Dean has introduced a new variant of their flagship Edge series of basses. The new Edge 4 and Edge 5 basses distinguish themselves from the pack with upgraded electronics including a pair of active EMG pickups.
Both of the new models feature bolt-on construction and sport 35? scales. They’re built with basswood bodies, maple “C”-shaped necks, rosewood fingerboards, and 24 frets. Hardware includes Grover tuners and a die-cast bridge.
The Dean Edge 4 and Edge 5 Basses with EMG pickups are due in the coming months with street prices of $499 and $549, respectively. For more, check out the Dean website.

I love Dean basses. I have an Edge 5 fretless (older model,) and a Rhapsody. I picked them up used and for not very much money. Great bang for the buck.
I got a Dean Edge 4 used in 2002 for about $300. Never had any reason to complain, but when I chose to take it in for a much needed tune-up earlier this year, I found out my Korean model had some piss-poor, not-in-the-catalog eletric parts including the internal pre-amp system for the dual EMG-HZ pick-ups. Now it sounds like a dream. Clear, powerful and in my opinion the best thin neck around.
