Pixies Announce New Bassist, World Tour and Single

Kim ShattuckAfter losing Kim Deal last month, the Pixies have certainly kicked things into high gear. The band has made many announcements including a world tour that’s set to begin this fall in Europe.

The Muffs’ Kim Shattuck will be filling in the low end for the journey. Shattuck played bass in The Pandoras before becoming the guitarist for the pop punk Muffs, and she’s reportedly “holed up” in an L.A. rehearsal space with the Pixies in preparation of the tour.

“Along with everyone’s favorites, we’ll be playing songs that we haven’t played in ages or never played live before,” said guitarist Black Francis. “Songs like ‘Brick is Red,’ ‘Havalina,’ ‘Tony’s Theme.’ and ‘Sad Punk.’ We’ve probably rehearsed some 80 songs, so we’ll be able to change up the set at the last minute if we feel like it. We’re all really looking forward to this tour.”

The Pixies also debuted a brand new song, entitled “Bagboy,” which is also available as a free download:
