Tower of Power: “Soul With a Capital S”, Live (2008)
Bass legend Francis “Rocco” Prestia shared this video on his Facebook page the other day, and I can only imagine that thousands of people around the world started moving in their seats.
This clip of “Soul With a Capital S” is taken from the band’s 40th Anniversary at the Fillmore West. Most bass players dream of being able to play like Prestia at all, let alone doing it for over four decades!
In his time with No Treble, Kevin has met hundreds of amazing bassists and interviewed icons like Jack Casady, Victor Wooten, Les Claypool, Marcus Miller, and more. He's a gigging bassist performing jazz in Northern Virginia and bluegrass with The Plate Scrapers up and down the East Coast. Kevin appreciates all genres of music, from R&B to metal and everything in between. Connect with Kevin on Facebook and check his performance schedule on his website.
Beautiful bass and bass lines!
Nothing like Rocco right there with David(drums). & the rhythm guitarists “chank”. Tight.
Mr. Thumpomatic kicking it!
Rocco is the man…and that baratone sax is nasty…
Nothing better than Rocco, Dave and TOP
Just some good ole, tight groovin’ soul… my bad Soul!
That funk is as tight as “a fat man wearing baby shoes”!
That was thumpin! Awesome bass playing and drumming.
