Tool’s Maynard James Keenan Guests on Primus’s First New Song in 3 Years

Primus and Maynard James Keenan

It’s been three years since Les Claypool and Primus released any new music, but the dry spell has been broken with a new single. “Little Lord Fentanyl” features some help from Tool vocalist Maynard James Keenan and is the band’s first recording with new drummer Jon Hoffman.

The song kicks off with a slap bass line that could only come from the brain of Claypool before Hoffman and guitarist Larry LaLonde jump in.

The collaboration with Keenan comes midway through the Sessanta V2.0 tour, which sees the singer’s bands A Perfect Circle and Puscifer team up with Primus for a month of dates. After that, Primus will be on the road for their “Onward & Upward” tour, featuring support from MonoNeon. See below for their full tour dates.

“Little Lord Fentanyl” is streaming now on Apple Music, Amazon Music, and more.
