Cardboard Bass, Real Groove: Stephen Campbell in Marcus King’s Live Cardboard Sessions Set

Stephen Campbell proves you don’t need traditional building materials to make it groove. In this Cardboard Sessions video with Marcus King, Campbell holds it all together on a fully functional cardboard bass, delivering thick, soulful lines that bring real weight to the performance.

The series, created by Signal Snowboards, features custom built instruments made entirely from cardboard. That includes drums, guitars, basses, and amps. It is raw, no frills, one take music, and that is what makes it hit so hard.

Marcus King pours everything into his vocal and guitar work on “F*CK MY LIFE UP AGAIN,” but it is Campbell’s solid feel that keeps it grounded. Despite the unusual setup, the bass tone cuts through with warmth and grit, making this a standout example of how much the player really matters.

Cardboard or not, this one grooves.
