From Foldable Basses to Modern Modeling Pedals: October’s Top 10 Bass Gear Releases

Now that everyone has sorted their Halloween candy, it’s time to check out all the best goodies from the bass world in October. We’ve collected the top ten gear news stories of the month, ranging from otherworldly bass designs to modern modeling pedals.

Two very unique basses took the top spots. Ohana, a company known for its ukuleles, introduced its first solid-body electric bass. It has a 28-inch scale, which is two inches shorter than what we typically refer to as a “short scale.” Other features include custom hand-wound pickups, a mahogany body, and a figured maple top. It comes in four colors: Emerald Green, Ocean Blue, Midnight Purple, and Wine Red.

Next up was the Mantispa Bass by forward-thinking French luthier Sébastien Gavet. The model, introduced at the Guitar Summit, has a minimalist look featuring a foldable design. Available in four or five-string versions, the Mantispa also has a headless tuning system, a multi-scale neck, and a pair of Growl Buren JB pickups.

Although they’re not new, a select collection of basses from Adam Clayton’s bass arsenal is hitting the auction block this month. It includes several instruments he used to tour and record with U2, as well as choice picks from his vintage Fender Jazz stockpile.

Other highlights include a gas-pedal-controlled fuzzbox, Fender’s latest American-made basses, a collaboration between Schecter and Guitar Center, and more. Scroll on to get your fix of new bass gear from October 2025.
