Phil Jones Bass has announced the First Annual UK Solo Bass Contest and Bass Expo will be held on September 5th in Penarth, Wales. While PJB has held a Solo Bass Contest in years past, this will be the first international competition. The occasion will also be a sort of homecoming for founder Phil Jones, who spent time in the area.

“I attended the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama and am very proud that Yuri Goloubev, Professor of Bass at the college, has graciously offered to be one of the judges for the contest,” stated Jones. “We emphasize that this is a community event and opportunity for players to network with other players, brands, and industry professionals, as well as an avenue to compete at a high level in front of an industry audience.”

The competition is open to all ages and levels of playing experience. The top three finalists will win prizes ranging from PJB amps, basses, effects, and other gear. In addition to the contest, the bass expo will include bass-related exhibitors, including builders, effects, electronics, amps, and more for all attendees to check out.
