Vincen García Slows Things Down for a Beautiful Take on “Keep Calm”
We usually see Vincen García with his foot on the gas, laying down huge grooves and making impossible bass lines look easy. “Keep Calm” shows another side of his playing.
Jazz in Marciac has shared video from García’s July 2026 performance in France. He takes the stage alone, armed with his signature purple Yamaha BB and an Ampeg Heritage rig and lets the bass do all of the talking.

There is still plenty of technique here, but the focus is on melody, dynamics, and space. García builds the piece patiently, moving between chords, harmonics, and beautifully phrased lines while still sprkinling some of the Garcia fire he is known for.
“Keep Calm” comes from García’s second album, Vivace. This performance is a great reminder that his playing can be just as compelling when he turns down the speed and lets the music breathe.
