Dead & Company: Oteil Burbridge’s “Eyes of the World” Solo

Fan clips and audio of the Dead & Company’s recent Halloween performance at Madison Square Garden have been trickling onto the web over the past few days, proving that the group is firing on all cylinders. The band features three original Grateful Dead members – Bob Weir, Mickey Hart, and Bill Kreutzmann – with the “company” consisting of John Mayer, keyboardist Jeff Chimenti, and bassist extraordinaire Oteil Burbridge.

The veteran low-ender shared his excitement with the group on his Facebook page, saying, “It’s been a long time since I have raced home to listen to shows that I just played.”

While the video is shot from afar, here’s a great clip of Burbridge’s first bass solo with the band during “Eyes of the World” from that night.

In his time with No Treble, Kevin has met hundreds of amazing bassists and interviewed icons like Jack Casady, Victor Wooten, Les Claypool, Marcus Miller, and more. He's a gigging bassist performing jazz in Northern Virginia and bluegrass with The Plate Scrapers up and down the East Coast. Kevin appreciates all genres of music, from R&B to metal and everything in between. Connect with Kevin on Facebook and check his performance schedule on his website.
